Hip Aspirations

Hip aspirations are medical procedures commonly performed to relieve discomfort or swelling in the hip joint. During this minimally invasive procedure, a thin needle is carefully inserted into the hip to remove excess fluid. Usually x-ray or ultrasound is required. This fluid, often causing pain or stiffness, can be analyzed to help diagnose the underlying cause of the hip issues. The hip can also be aspirated to check for the presence of infections inside the hip. Hip aspirations are typically done in an outpatient setting, and patients may experience some relief from symptoms following the procedure. This simple yet effective intervention is aimed at improving hip comfort and aiding in the diagnosis of potential underlying conditions.
