Knee Bursitis

Bursitis in the knee joint is a condition caused by inflammation of small fluid-filled sacs that cushion the joint. This inflammation can lead to pain, swelling, and discomfort, especially with movement. While more commonly seen in adults, it can affect people of all ages. Overuse, trauma, or underlying health issues can also cause bursitis. The symptoms of knee bursitis may include tenderness, warmth, and difficulty bending or straightening the leg. Rest, ice, and anti-inflammatory medications are often recommended for relief. In severe cases, a doctor may need to aspirate excess fluid from the bursa or recommend physical therapy to promote healing.
